Frank Suffert


...is an award-winning filmmaker/director/cinematographer with a diverse creative background. Born in Germany, he moved to the U.S. in 1987. He received his undergraduate degree in Film and TV from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts and holds an MFA from UCLA's renowned School of Film and Theater. After film school and an award winning short film, he quickly moved on to direct and shoot commercials and music videos, including spots for Levis, Panasonic, Pepsi, TDK and clips for such recording artist as Smashing Pumpkins, Brian Setzer, Tribe After Tribe, Three Fish, Jamie Foxx, country star Trace Adkins and Grammy Award Winner Cassandra Wilson. Suffert served as cinematographer on several independent feature films, among others, the film festival favorite Shoe Shine Boys, and documentaries for the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC, NHK (Japan), and Academy Award nominee Edmund Penney. His latest work, Desert Dreamers, is a documentary about eccentric artists in the California desert, narrated by Peter Fonda. Recently he completed a screenplay for a feature film based on Shakespeare's The Tempest. The emphasis in his work lies in creating entertainment that is at the same time meaningful and popular, and reflects his visual and narrative abilities in combination with his global vision and experience.
